Progress

Now that we know our little one will be a girl, I have finally been able to get started on the nursery... and nesting has kicked in hard core. I told myself Friday that I had to get the apartment in order before I could do anything baby-prep related. And I'll be damned if my little ultimatum didn't work! I cleaned out and organized the closet, cleaned and straightened every room and... the biggest accomplishment... FOLDED ALL THE LAUNDRY I've been avoiding for literally weeks. I was exhausted, but it was the best feeling. This energized, motivated part of pregnancy is pretty awesome.

To make it even better, Brian got home from work early with fantastic news we've been waiting and praying for. He is now a salaried employee, which amounts to a lot more flexibility and a hefty raise. My handsome, hard-working husband and best friend has amazed me with his persistence, patience and unmatched dedication to this job he loves. And then he comes home and hugs on me and my belly. Me and Emery are lucky girls. :)

Today, after a celebratory brunch, I went out for a bit to pick up a few things and happened across the most glorious rocker I have ever seen. It is a papasan chair... that rocks... and it's beautiful. Really? Life just keeps getting better and better. Behold:

The yellow notebook is for Brian and me to write Emery notes and memories in... so she can look back at them when she's older.

Since I was taking pictures, I thought I'd post a pic our our closet/changing station/dresser. All of baby's things are in there in no particular order right now, but you get the idea. The changing pad will go on top of our desk that fit snug as a bug in the closet, and all of Emery's clothes and what not should fit nicely into the ridiculous number of drawers below. We can stockpile diapers and linens on the shelves, as well as all her little shoes. (I found an adorable pair of oxfords at Goodwill this weekend for $3. It's going to be an obsession, I have a feeling.) Best of all, this saves us a lot of space in the little room, which means we can probably keep the futon in there as well. Score.

So, I am caught up on all things domestic, Brian has been rewarded for all his hard work and Emery's room is starting to take shape. What a perfectly productive weekend. :)
